The Wild lead the charge in the quest for the first overall selection, closely trailed by the Devils, Senators, Sabres (via Blue Jackets), and Panthers. With the draft rules allowing only a four-spot ascent, the battle for Bedard is on, and the fate of these bottom five teams hangs in the balance.
WYATT JOHNSTON PUTTING ON HISTORICAL PERFORMANCE Wyatt Johnston of the Arizona Coyotes is having himself a season. With a mesmerizing 17-game point streak to start the season as a rookie, he now has 45 points in 38 games, propelling the Coyotes into playoff contention as the 8th seed. His extraordinary feats not only position him as the leading contender for the coveted Calder Trophy but also place him in the running for the illustrious Hart Trophy. A rare honor awaits, as only one rookie, Ryan Strome, has ever claimed the Hart trophy in 25 seasons past. The hockey world watches in awe as Johnston weaves his tale of glory on the ice.
CUP FRONT RUNNERS Two unexpected teams have emerged— the New York Islanders and the Los Angeles Kings. The Islanders reign supreme, perched atop their conference and the entire league, holding a tenuous 4-point lead. Meanwhile, the Kings, although trailing the Islanders by 4 points, command their conference with a formidable 7-point advantage over their closest rival. The Islanders draw their strength from young star Dylan Cozens, a beacon of brilliance tied for the league lead in points with 52. His insane 1.25 points per minute propel him leagues ahead of the competition and into the Hart conversation as the front runner. Across the West, the Kings owe their ascension to the exceptional goaltending prowess of Joonas Korpisalo, whose performance puts him well ahead in the Vezina Trophy race. As these two teams embark on their surprising journeys, the league bears witness to the unfolding of an extraordinary battle in its 25th season.
TRADE(S) STUNNER It was a quiet season in terms of trades then a stunner erupted the CCFHL with the shocking trade of the legendary Sidney Crosby. After 18 seasons with one team, arguably, a top 5 CCFHL player of all-time was traded. It's said every year, but I'll say it again. You gotta go for it. Take chances to make the playoffs as once they do start, anything can happen. We anticipate league activity picking up and more trades coming in as the deadline approaches in the next few months. New Comment Trades...Trades...and more Trades kick off the off-seasonBy Commissioner On Monday 5th June 2023 / 4:42amNEWS FROM THE LEAGUE OFFICE The Detriot Red Wings were clearly not happy with losing in the Stanley Cup Final. Less than 72 hours after their devastating game 6 loss, the Red Wings showing they want, more than anything, to play for the Stanley Cup again. New Detriot Red Wings General Manager, Joe Desmarais is sending a clear message to the rest of the league; they will be back, better than ever! In his first of 2 trades, the Red Wings GM, sent a 2024 first round pick and a 2023 second round pick to the Canucks in exchange for Evgeny Kuznetsov. Getting a player of that caliber was steep in draft picks but without having to sacrifice a roster player, this is a huge deal. In his second deal of the night, Joe, sent the Red Wings first round pick in the upcoming 2023 enty draft (27th) overall. He managed to do that, again, without giving up a roster player. Heading to the Motor City is Jakub Vrana, Shayne Gostisbehere, Michael Stone, and Oskar Sundqvist. All 4 players are expected to be a part of their opening night roster. Which team will step up next with a big move?
